SNOWBANK LAKE RETREAT
View from the lake
- The client and architect identified two major design goals they wanted their cabin to achieve. The first was for the cabin to sit lightly on the land. Selecting the proper location on the site allowed for minimal tree removal. Preservation of the natural terrain was another key goal, so the architect left the shoreline untouched to protect the water and native agriculture.
- The open plan gives the spaces the larger-than-life appearance, while the exposed timber structure adds definition to the main living area and creates a level of scale and comfort.
- The overall master plan also includes provision for an attached two-car garage and shop to permit budget phasing.

CABINS
CREEKSIDE CABIN
Typical of this series, this cabin has a beautiful exposed structure consisting of ceiling rafters and timber beams in the open areas - one of the numerous cabin types designed for a development in the Bayfield, Wisconsin, area.
ASPEN
Another cabin of the Bayfield series, this Aspen was designed with econ-friendliness in mind and has a dynamic full height screen porch to offset the anterior heavy frame routine among the Aspen of Bayfield.
BALSAM
This story and a half cabin takes full advantage of all habitable space. Its full-height screen porch, coupled with its charming interior, accentuates the roof line's uniform rigidity
GUEST COTTAGE
Designed to be adjacent to a main cabin, this guest cottage features a one-room area for living and sleeping. It also includes a sink in the open space and an enclosed toilet shower room for privacy.
TAMARACK
Designed for a narrow lot, this classic Tamarack is complete with a kitchen, dining room, and living space, all on one level. A version of this was built with a master suite on the main level with additional guest rooms, another open area, and a private office up top.
